Anime ClubAn anime club is an organization that meets to discuss, show, and promote anime in a local community setting and can also focus on broadening Japanese cultural understanding.0
Art ClubArt Club is an after school program that meets twice a week in classroom 305 with the Art teacher Ms. Silva. We offer club on Monday and Friday until 5:00 pm. Students have the opportunity to explore different mediums and create visual expressions. Currently the main project is painting with acrylics on canvas. Art club is a space to be yourself, be creative and use your imagination.1
ASPIRA ClubASPIRA LEADERSHIP CLUB - The program provides leadership training, cultural enrichment activities, and community action projects that teach students how to develop their abilities to become effective leaders of their communities. Through ASPIRA Clubs, youth are challenged by giving them opportunities for self-direction and self-determination so that they can stretch to their full potential. As a result, Aspirantes learn to sustain their own motivation and direction helping them to create order, meaning, and direction in of their lives and to contribute their leadership skills to their communities.1
Chess ClubChess club is a after school activity designed to give kids an opportunity to learn the game of chess, improve their chess skills, and to enjoy competition against their peers. Novice players will be taught the basic rules, the value of pieces, and how to checkmate. More experienced players will learn different opening and defense strategies, various tactics, and will be given the opportunity to challenge themselves by solving chess puzzles. While students will have the chance to measure their progress through wins and losses against their peers, our main focus will be on encouraging good sportsmanship and on having fun.0
ChoirThe Aspira Haugan Choir consists of all girls who are very talented. They performed for the Latino Heritage Celebration where they sang Vivir mi Vida and Un Poco Loco. For the Winter Expo they sang Feliz Navidad, Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and All I Want for Christmas is You. 1
Dance ClubComing Soon0
DJ ClubThe Aspira-Haugan DJ Club provides students with invaluable instruction and practice time. Future DJs learn about professional equipment, along with techniques, such beat-matching, looping, and scratching. The students are able to DJ for their peers during lunchtime and for the school dances. The students attended a field trip to the Chicago Bulls Game and enjoyed a meet-and-greet with DJ Jayfunk (DJ for the Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks, and at 103.5 Kiss FM). 0
Guitar ClubOpen to all grade levels, Guitar Club offers students the opportunity to meet with other guitar players after school to learn new songs and new techniques.1
Indoor Soccer ClubEncouraging students to team build along with communicating with each other while learning basic soccer skills.1
Ladies On the Verge of ExcellenceL.O.V.E. stands for Ladies on the Verge of Excellence. L.O.V.E. club is an all girls leadership and empowerment group at Aspira Haugan Middle School. L.O.V.E. is devoted to community service, community building, personal empowerment, and goal setting. We are leaders, pioneers, innovators and trailblazers dedicated to spreading love!

Miguel Del Valle Youth DevelopmentMiguel Del Valle offers other programs and support such as:

Open Gym - Monday, Friday, Saturday

Open Gym provides students with extra opportunities to participate in sports and games covered in physical education class. If students want one-on-one instruction in an area of a sport, it will be provided by Mr. Bornheim. Sometimes open gym can be very competitive with games, other times it might be relaxed where students are working on sports skills.

Robotics Club
A robotics club is a gathering of students who are interested in learning about and working with robots. At school, robotics clubs typically take place after school, in a classroom, and moderated by a member of the teaching staff or school administration.

Student CouncilStudent Council is a student-based civic organization designed to help promote school spirit and leadership among students.

Students participating in all levels of the Council will maintain a high standard of personal conduct. Council members will demonstrate leadership qualities by serving as good examples of behavior through their words and actions.

All Council members will be expected to participate in approved activities, which will serve to enhance the quality of both the physical and behavior environment of the school.

The purpose of student council is:
-To develop positive attitudes and to practice good citizenship.
-To promote harmonious relations throughout the entire school.
-To improve student/faculty relationships.
-To improve school morale and general welfare.
-To provide a forum for student expression.
-To plan special events or projects.

Benefits of being involved in student council include: opportunity to improve reading and writing skills, gain experience in public speaking, and learn how to make a positive impact on school and community environment. In addition, student council serves as a chance to meet new friends and work with a wide variety of people.
